http://www.autismspeaks.org/community/resources/books.php Movies About Autism, Aspergers and Savantism - Autism and it's World

1. Molly: very interesting...shows common symptoms! Very interesting scientific brain experiment; shows the autistic people know things even when they don't speak and it can be very upsetting to them. This trailer doesn't do justice to this movie.

2. House of Cards: I would have to say the best! Of course all of them are good :) But just I can't explain how wonderful this movie is for parents of newly autistic kids and how to reach them in their world :):):)

A clip from this movie about 'Autism and compelling/getting intrigued & Autism and change = screaming'
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=csgwrisyHNA watch! Getting it embedded soon.

3. Silent Fall: BEWARE this movie is rated R and is related to a murder, so pretty graphic and has cuss words in it as well...however, very very good resemblance of autism in the kid! Parents, do not worry that your child will end up like this; This is a movie = HOLLYWOOD!

'Voice Pitch Aversion': Parents, do not worry that your child will end up like this; This is a movie, HOLLYWOOD, and we know its like ketchup on the knife. But, I could not find a better voice aversion to show than through this clip.

I'VE PUT IN MY OWN CLIPS FROM THIS MOVIE FOR PEOPLE WHO WANT TO SEE SOME OF THE MOVIE BUT CAN"T REALLY HANDLE MURDER MOVIES.

Clip about Autism and Organization

Clip about Autism and common shape/size phobias

Clip about Autism stims & motor echolaliac

Clip of Meltdown, defusion, and relaxation... Again HOLLYWOOD parents.

4. What's Eating Gilbert Grape (Trailer: http://www.dicaprio.com/videos/grape01.html) YOU HAVE TO GET THIS CLIP OFF THE WEBSITE; can't embed.

5. Mercury Rising: This is a movie about autistic boy w/ great decoding savantism-type talent that leads him to be in danger of the FBI---great FBI movie! Very interesting.

6. Under the Piano: I've never seen this movie.

7. Mozart & The Whale: Some parts real and good.

& SAVANTISM as well

5. Rain Man: Very awesome movie about Savantism. Its sad Raymond's brother has trouble understanding him for quite a while, which makes the climax and the ending especially emotional...great movie, but lots of the *F* word... At least for a while anyway

Video below is just a clip from the movie; shows how the brother is having trouble understanding his brother and the toothpick scene: BEWARE there is ONE cuss word in this scene (HEdouble hockey sticks) HOWEVER, what Is Good is that the person who put the scene together edited out the F word and some other offensive words out to an ok substitution that is not cussing which makes me happy!...awesome representation of Savantism in the man!

NEWEST movie on Autism- 'Adam'. This movie had parts of acting that were extraordinary when it comes to struggles with Aspergers Syndrome and had a very unique ending. Some parts some people may find a little 'over the top' even for AS and some parts even a little offensive or not to their liking do to a small scene being sexually explicit in nature (word-wise).

Miracle Run (Finally saw the movie, seems like a really touching movie! Thank you LIFETIME)
---The shock in unsuspecting and scared parents.

*MORE AS I THINK OF THEM & as they are made (2 being made)

Apparently it is not uncommon to have adult individuals with many symptoms of HFA which has not been diagnosed. In such instances, would an afflicted person fare better if they were made aware of their condition? If so, I would like to know the approach one should take in attempting to bring about improvement.

You really should include the Belgium film Ben X. It is incredibly well shot movie and the actor delivers a realistic portrayal of an autistic teen. Also the third volume of the BBC show Skins includes an autistic character in it.

I have seen both Silent Fall and Rain Man. RM was the first mainstream movie to ever deal with the subject of Autism. SF is also a great, but severely underrated. I havent seen House of Cards, bt from the clips I saw it does look good.
