You brush on all sides of the arms and legs, 10X each side.
You brush down to calm down the system and up to 'wake' up the body.
I've been using it for quite a while now; I notice when I don't do it sometimes its like a drop in the system and going back to it helps that. It doesn't work for everyone but its working for a ton of people.

Also these help the autistic persons' throat to be able to feel when food is going to slip down the back of their throat to prevent choking and tactile 'suddeness'

Also can be used to hang on to when upset for needed input through the hands when upset, etc. Works great from some! :)

These can really work because you are helping the vestibular system and grounding the body, etc.

Here is a video of joint compressions being done on a child:

Slide 5 - Autism and it's World

PS: It is sounds, touch, vestibular/balance, etc.

When used for vestibular and balance, must be in the dark, swinging while listening through head phones for 30 min. a day/ 2 times a day and go through a series of specific CD's too if that is suggested by O.T. as these CD's are made with 'vibrations' and brain-wave/inner ear trainers.

ALSO: SERVICE DOGS!

New: hyperbaric oxygen therapy

chelation therapy (look on my theories page for video)

NEW! -- neuro stim to redirect the affected parts of the brain (sensory and brainwave)

Theraputic horseback riding therapy: Awesome for muscle tone, vestibular, connections, etc.

So, how do I fit it in all properly?

tips and ex's below:

1. First day of O.T. and some mroe after that will be overwhelming...If you can spread it out during happy times at home as well, that would be good...Make sure they are tkaing it slow...Also, it can help to have the O.T. have cold hands.
2. Rushing isn't good... overworking is bad too. In school is good and spread out through the day. They should be doing brushing, ball therapy, lotion therapy, swinging therapy, etc. but in moderation. Also, you should be in there so you can incorporate the therapies throughout the day, short times per time, but not too much. Joint compressions is also what they are supposed to do. Visit the school and see what they are starting. I see O.T. appt., espeically since not in school anymore, but incorporate it in the home from O.T. appts. and then go once in a while or once a week or two weeks... It depends, if in school, so thats good there and just a little at home should be sufficient. You don't want to over O.T. it.

3. I would say the constant appts. could be replaced by spreading it out throughout the day in your own environment while incorporating it into fun. EX:

Speech therapy during play and use the z-vibe and tip before every meal that helps him feel his muscles in his mouth

The brushing as showed to you by an O.T. after breakfast, maybe once throughout the day, and after dinner...

If you get swings in a room, he can go on those during play and he'll prob. want to start going to use them at certain times.

These are just a couple examples that really give alot of input, and can be done as you can see throughout the day, not just having the appts. So it can be greater benefit as well when you can take these appts. and do them scattergorized throughout the day as part of a routine. I hope this helps.

4. Got to make the body move, brushing, z-vibes and tips, visual interaction, signing for the hands, speech, etc. Joint compressions, rolling ball across the body, moving the ball all directions while child sits on it (don't want to start with that first and want to go slow with that) listening therapy (don't be surprised if have to restart, etc.
