Welcome to
--Autism and it's World, where deep questions are answered, secrets of autism are revealed, and to find answers to questions you might have felt weren't your place to ask in fear it would offend the person with autism. This site was created to help in every way possible by the author of this website who indeed has a form of high functioning autism herself! Enjoy....and don't hesitate to email her at her address link below: this is how the site grows with answers to the difficult, deep, real and very personal answers that shed light on Autism Spectrum Disorders.
Change of email address that works better for me... just changed from yahoo to aol!

Now, the Website Starts!
Welcome to
Autism and it's World
. This website was created by me to help describe and explain the world of autism to parents of autistic kids, educators, psychologists, etc. I have high functioning autism and savant. Being able to understand what your patient or loved one is feeling will make the bonding relationship better between all of you and the relationship much easier on both ends. Please ask me any questions...even personal questions you may have been afraid to ask to others before. I just want to help, it is my pleasure.
Here in this site you will find categories such as ADAPTIVE SENSORY, COMMONLY ASKED QUESTIONS, PERSONAL QUESTIONS, SERVICE DOGS, etc.
(Below are graphics titled: Delve into the eyes of the autistic child--see what they see: Service Dogs for the Autistic: Neuro-vestibular therapy swing: )
*VISUAL PERCEPTION*
As autistic as I am, the only way I could describe to someone what I sometimes see looking at a lighted billboard with words or pictures flashing ahead, I decided to create this picture in order to help my explanation. Of course, not everything looks like this....but sometimes billboards that created lighted images and words, along with the scene of people and activities in the world, our eyes will view things in a bit of a different way.

*SERVICE DOGS*
AND my newest addition that is helping me with lots of balance issues as sasha has officially retired (but still thinks she is servicing me in the home full force!)
On a day to day basis, autism affects me, especially in busy places. Having a dog to help sensory and judgement when out and about can be both healthier for the person w/ autism and the environment/people around them. They facilitate communication/socialization :) instead of staring & apprehension. Autism dogs are referred to as Ssgi dogs. (Link as well)

I am always checking these and thank you to all of you for your kindness and blessings. This is why I made this site, and all your kind words to me really means a lot. God Bless +
Getting caught up on pasting the longer messages:
Also, the picture of the girl smiling with trees behind, that's from the mom, Melissa, of the little girl who I have videos of using the dynavox on the communication and stimming pages. I'll be putting more of her videos on there. Thanks mom :) And congrats on the progress!!! See all of her guestbook message below the guestbook as well other guests.
Some of the messages are getting cut off after a couple of lines, so I will paste the messages that were cut off down below along w/ the person's name who deserves that credit: so write as long a message as you want :)
***** Some of the messages are 'duplicating' so I'm just deleting the copy...the original will still be there :)

These are the lyracs to Dan Hill's 1982 song "It's a long road" The this song, in my opinion, describes the trials and obstacles that stood in my way while dealing with my autism and life in general. (Feedback wanted)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It's a long road
When you're on your own
And it hurts when
They tear your dreams apart
And every new town
Just seems to bring you down
Trying to find peace of mind
Can break your heart
It's a real war
Right outside your
front door I tell ya
Out where they'll kill ya
You could use a friend
Where the road is
That's the place for me
Where I'm me in my own space
Where I'm free that's the place
I wanna be
'Cause the road is long yeah
Each step is only the beginning
No breaks just heartaches
Oh man is anybody winning
It's a long road
And it's hard as hell
Tell me what do you do
To survive
When they draw first blood
That's just the start of it
Day and night you gotta fight
To keep alive
It's a real war
Right outside your
front door I tell ya
Out where they'll kill ya
You could use a friend
Where the road is
That's the place for me
Where I'm me in my own space
Where I'm free that's the place
I wanna be
'Cause the road is long yeah
Each step is only the beginning
No breaks just heartaches
Oh man is anybody winning
'Cause the road is long yeah
Each step is only the beginning
No breaks just heartaches
Oh man is anybody winning
It's a long road
It's a long road ...
Hey!
First off thanks for the new thread! :) I will look at the lyrics in a little bit after eating but just had to start out by saying isn't it neat how words put to a beat can have such an impact on people?! Music is something that will never leave our generations! I will check out the lyrics more and see what I think of them and how I see hardships in Autism as in the song.
